Xiaomi has made its debut in India's home appliances market with the Mi Air Purifier 2.

This week, the Chinese tech giant launched its first Mi Ecosystem-based product - the Mi Air Purifier 2 - in India. The company also unveiled the Mi Band 2 at Rs. 1999 (around $30) along with the Mi Air Purifier at an event in New Delhi.

The Mi Air Purifier 2, priced at Rs. 9,999 ( around $149), will soon be available on the Xiaomi-owned marketplace Mi.com and India's largest e-commerce platform Flipkart.com. With a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) performance of 330 m3 per hour, Mi Air Purifier 2 is more effective and powerful than its predecessor, the Mi Air Purifier. It is also much smaller than the Mi Air Purifier. The device can be connected to Xiaomi's Mi Home application and is Wi-Fi compatible. It has a triple layer filter, which is fitted in a cylindrical shape for 360-degree filtering hardware.

"Air pollution is becoming an alarming public health concern in India," Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra said. "We believe that we are able to play a role in increasing awareness about air pollution by including AQI (Air Quality Index) data into our MIUI Weather app, and by introducing Mi Air Purifier 2 to India."
