MalwareTech, a placeholder for the name of someone who wants to remain anonymous, was hailed "accidental hero" after successfully halting the spread of the Ransomware cyber-attack. But the 22-year-old told hero warns people that the fight is not yet over.

BBC reports how an anonymous person successfully stopped the spread of the Ransomware cyber-attack which threatened all of Europol. According to Europol Chief Rob Wainwright, the cyber-attack that occurred last Friday infected more than 200,000 victims across 150 countries. The reports further revealed that the anonymous hero's successful save was originally not intended to do so.

The Ransomware cyber-attack hero is being referred to as MalwareTech after refusing to reveal his or her true identity. According to reports, he or she was not planning on halting the Ransomware cyber-attack. Instead, was on the process of registering a domain name which aimed to track the spread of the virus.

The act miraculously ended up halting it the Ransomware cyber-attack which was terrorizing all of Europol. However, this is momentary relief. The 22-year-old anonymous accidental hero warns people that the attack is not over.

ABC says MalwareTech believes that the attack is set on a larger scale and more people could realize that they have been infected come Monday morning. Technology experts echo the warning and asks people to be vigilant as more serious attacks could be imminent. People must be vigilant in ensuring their security is up to date.

The Ransomware cyber-attack virus infects user files. Once infected, the virus demands for payments from victims. Among others, Russia and the UK suffered the greatest damage from the attack.

The ransomware blocks user data until the user settles the ransom. The virus was combined with a worm which enables the virus to replicates itself and infect other computers. In order to safeguard data, the accidental hero says all users must exercise vigilance in placing patches where they are needed.
