Nintendo is reportedly set to bid farewell to the 6-year-old 3DS with the release of its latest gaming device, the 2DS XL.

According to Kotaku, Nintendo has announced that its latest device would hit the market soon priced at $150. The 2DS XL would reportedly have button configurations like the 3DS XL.

The 2DS XL would reportedly function without 3D glasses. "The era of 3D glasses ends right here and right now," Reggie Fils-Aime, the president and COO of Nintendo America.

Meanwhile, Forbes reported that experts have described the Nintendo 2DS XL as outstanding and excellent. Compared to the 3DS, the device could be used anywhere.

The Nintendo 2DS XL is expected to appeal to the younger generation of gamers. It would also be cheaper than its predecessor.
