Rumors have it that HMD Global will soon release a flagship device that will impress more than the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 did. The Nokia 9 is meant to take on premium 2017 Android handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6, and a newly-leaked device concept suggest the Pure Android flagship is worth the wait.

WCCFTech pointed to the Nokia 9 concept shared by Phone Designer via Facebook and the visualization warrants a serious look or even grabbing the device instead of the GS8 or the LG G6. Like the GS8, the Nokia 9 is imagined to sport a bezel-less front display that stretches 5.5-inch diagonally. But unlike the GS8, the Nokia 9 will supposedly boast of two front-firing speakers that should complement the immersive display feature.

The design author also thought it wise to make use of the 2:1 aspect ratio for the Nokia 9 scree, seen with the LG G6, that renders the handset's body taller than the competition, which translates too to easier handling despite the large size of the device. But as noted in the report, there will be noticeable tradeoffs with the design - there will be instances that video playback with have letter boxing.

The Nokia 9 is envisioned too to unbox with dual camera set up on the rear shooter, purportedly to match what the rival flagships currently offer.

And the device certainly is sleek and gorgeous at the same time with the body thickness only at 6.2mm. However, an expected downside on this is the possibility of the Nokia 9 coming out equipped with smaller battery, meaning there is no solid assurance of longer operating hours.

No inside component specifications were mentioned in the report but recently leaked details indicated that when the Nokia 9 materialized it will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chip that will tap on 6GB of RAM. Also the device will feature iris scanning for better security and 23-megapixel main camera lens.

But likely the biggest selling point for the Nokia 9 is HMD Global's assurance that the line will run on Pure Android OS, which promises that the handsets will benefit from regular firmware updates and behave nearly the same as Google's Nexus and Pixel phones.
