HTC U Rumors: Specs Revealed, Release Date Next Month

HTC is rumored to be working on a flagship smartphone known as HTC U. Its leaked specs have surfaced.

Popular tipster, Evan Blass has reported on Venture Beat that the HTC U is the upcoming flagship smartphone from the Taiwanese company. By launching the HTC U Ultra and U Play smartphones in January, the company introduced its U series of phones.

The HTC U Ultra driven by Snapdragon 821 is upper midrange smartphone from HTC. Hence, its flagship smartphone is expected to launch as HTC U. Blass has revealed that the most unique feature of the HTC U flagship is Edge Sense that will provide customizable actions such as swiping and pinching on the right and left sides of the phone. This is made possible through the sensor-enabled metallic frame of the HTC U. The smartphone is codenamed as HTC U, Gizmo China reported.

As far as specifications of the HTC U is concerned, it is expected to arrive with a 5.5-inch display that will carry support for quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The Snapdragon 835 is expected to be present under the hood of the HTC's 2017 flagship. There is no information available on the RAM of the device. However, Blass has revealed that the HTC U would be coming in two storage editions of 64 GB and 128 GB. For additional storage, it will also feature a microSD card slot.

The Android 7.1 Nougat would be arriving preloaded on the HTC U along with Sense 9 UI. The rear side of the phone is expected to come with Sony IMX362 sensor enabled 12-megapixel snapper whereas the Sony IMX351 sensor enabled 16-megapixel shooter will be available on the front side of HTC U.

There is no information available on the battery of HTC. Blass has stated that the smartphone would be launching in mid or late April and it would be hitting shelves by May.
