The "Levi's Smart Jacket" will make one to take phone calls, listen to favorite music or even map and navigate the city in just a press of the touch-sensitive jacket left sleeve. Ten months after the announcement by Levi's of its research collaboration with Google to create the jacket, the new intelligent product has finally come to the SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas.

According to Designboom, the denim jacket technology is a product of Google's Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) or 'project Jacguard' by using conductive threads and make the Levi's trucker cycling jacket into a smart and touch-sensitive wearable garment. The technology concept draws inspiration on the premise that the textile's structure is the same with that of a touchscreen. Hence, weaving the conductive threads into the textile has resulted into a soft wearable garment that is sensitive to the wearer's actions similar to that of a touch screen.

In a similar report by Livescience, Google's ATAP group replaced the textile threads with the woven-in touch screen technology initially into the "Levi's Smart Jacket's" wrist as a Bluetooth device. There are innovations on the design for the future and this is the putting the device in zippers or in other parts of the garment for easier and normal use. It has been claimed that this technology is the first of its kind in terms of touch interaction that is integrated into a fabric.

The smart jacket will allow the wearer to use the smartphone using the Bluetooth technology. The control panel is just located at the wrists for easier manipulation even while driving. The product is being introduced for sale at a price of $350 and will be made available this fall of 2017. To those who are interested of this product, continue to follow Telegiz.
