Many players are still frustrated with the GPS problem of “Pokemon GO”. The game seems to be unable to point the exact location of the player causing their player to wander around the nearby areas. The GPS drifting issues is said to have existed for some months now and despite recent updates, the issue still hasn't been resolved.

When the game is not able to find the exact location of the player, their characters tend to wander off nearby areas causing them to have a hard time conquering a gym. Although moving characters due to GPS issues can sometimes be good as it can count as distance walked for the Pokemon buddy but that is not the case.

When a player battles a gym and is forced to leave an ongoing match, they will have to repeat the battle from the start. Moreover, if the player has limited buffs and has already used most of it in the first battle, they may not have enough of it when they have to start the gym battle again.

Recent updates also include a 10-minute soft ban to players that prevent them from re-initiating a battle to a gym. So conquering a gym is not only tedious with “Pokemon GO” GPS issue but also time-consuming.

Many players have posted their complaints in the game’s official subreddit. Some players show how far their character is from their real location, with up to hundred of meters difference. Many also say the drifting issues happens a number of times a week which explains why many players are very frustrated.

According to reports, Niantic is already working on fixing the GPS problem and initially aimed to address it in the January update. Although the bug hasn’t been fixed until today, it should be expected to happen anytime this year. It can be remembered that Niantic revealed reasons why many of the promised updates have been delayed.
