The Director of “Overwatch,” Jeff Kaplan, has always been against the use of keyboards and mouse in the game. Now, he has contacted manufacturers to ban the devices. Using a mouse and a keyboard is considered a way to get ahead in the game so it is considered as a form of cheating.

Even before the release of “Overwatch,” Blizzard had stated that it is against players who cheat and will not hesitate banning gamers who are proven guilty. This happened last week when over 20,000 players from South Korea were banned from the game due to cheating and hacking.

In a recent post in Blizzard Forums, Kaplan explains why using keyboards and mouse is considered as cheating and that he has “contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices.” Kaplan said Blizzard is in talks with first-party console manufacturers about disallowing the use of the two devices as an input conversion device in the game.

“Overwatch” is one of the most popular video games today. Its launch week got over seven million gamers hooked with a total of 119 million hours of playtime. By June, the game had reached 10 million gamers, and that went up to 25 million last month. It is now the third bestselling video game in the country. The game is not only a hit in the US but in other countries too. Last year, an Internet café in South Korea reported that “Overwatch” had exceeded the popularity of “League of Legends” in the country.
