Lags in PS4 home screen is becoming more prominent, and several PlayStation owners have shared some possible solutions for the issue.

Users have complained about lags or stutter while navigating their PS4 home menu. While some players believe this might be an isolated case, others think it is not.

According to Kotaku, some players have stated that they experience a "significant amount of delay" when navigating to certain sections like the "What's New" section.

The lag is said to appear more prominent when navigating through media-related sections. Sifting through live streams or Netflix apps causes the system to become "sluggish."

Unfortunately, there has been no word from Sony regarding this issue at this moment. The problem is thought to have stemmed from the December update.

The previous system updates were meant to stabilize the console's performance to ensure a smoother experience. However, players are reporting that it resulted in a slower, laggy experience instead.

PS4 owners tried to fix the issues themselves and even suggested some solutions on the PlaystationForum. A forum member stated that rebuilding the system's database seems to work albeit only for a short period.

Rebuilding the database requires users to put their console in safe mode and select the "Rebuild the database" option. The forum poster explained that doing this "defrags" the console the same way a PC does disk defragmentation. Another poster confirmed that this method made his PS4 "a bit quicker."

Furthermore, some are reporting that the lags might have something to do with consoles with large expanded storage. However, those without such large hard drives are also experiencing the same issues.

Other temporary solutions include turning off the console entirely instead of putting it in sleep mode.

Some of these suggested solutions do not work for everyone's unit and others only temporarily. It is unclear yet if Sony is working on a patch or future update to resolve this particular issue.
