The Nougat update for Android provides a feature that keeps you online by means of an automated tethering feature. This will keep users online, having reliable internet access as possible all the time.

The feature is called Instant Tethering. As noted by Android Police, it simplifies the process of using a data-enabled device, either a phone or tablet, as a Wi-Fi hotspot. It keeps track of all registered Google devices. If one of those devices go down, the Instant Tethering will ask if you want to reconnect using a different device.

The setup is simple and almost automatic, and if you lose signal, it will prompt you to reconnect. This feature will keep a user online by any chance the data cap for a specific device reach its limit, and is particularly useful if a person has plenty of other devices having cellular data plan.

Instant Tethering will automatically be available on Nougat, but the feature can also be available for other Android versions via Google Play Services.

Google Play Services takes control of all the installed Google apps and settings. It works like a component inside Android. The update on the service can be made separate from the whole Android version, similar to a normal app. With this, Google can provide individual updates for the apps without the need to wait for a complete overhaul of the operating system.

Currently, the update is already available for Google Nexus and Pixel, having a Nougat 7.1.1 version. It is expected that the feature will soon be useable on other devices. To see if it is already available on a device, users may check the Settings menu then tap Google entry. The "Instant Tethering" will be seen if already available.

The Instant Tethering feature will be useful for those who frequently travels but has to stay online for personal or business reasons.
