The worldwide recall of the Samsung Note 7 has cost Samsung billions of dollars, but the company is determined to make a comeback in 2017 with the Galaxy Note 8.

The South Korean tech giant has announced its upgrade program which lets Galaxy Note 7 owners exchange their faulty handsets for a Galaxy S7 at a 50 percent discount. They can also exchange their Galaxy S7 devices for a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 when they are released.

There are a lot of rumors about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8, but Samsung has not confirmed any of the speculated specs and features. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is said to feature a 4K resolution, Exynos 8895 processor, and 6 GB of RAM. Other rumored specs include artificial intelligence capabilities and major improvements in storage and camera. It is expected to sport a rear dual camera with 16 megapixels and 8 megapixels sensors and an updated S pen which may also come with a fingerprint scanner. There are speculations that Samsung may use the removable battery feature again as it needs to be extra cautious with its battery this time.

Experts claim that the company will release the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 earlier in an attempt to win its customers back. It is believed that Samsung will unveil the Note 8 in January or at least the first quarter of 2017 during the CES 2017 (Consumer Electronics Show). It could be unveiled at the MWC 2017 (Mobile World Congress) in March as well. However, many believe this time line is not plausible because based on tradition, the company releases the Galaxy S series models earlier than the Note line. There are also reports that Samsung could also change the name of the Galaxy Note 8.
