Free Icons Finder is great for developers and anyone else who are seeking to spice up their school project or their professional website.

Looking for a simple way to download free icons? FreeIconFinder might just be the way to go. Now, while there are several freeware available to download, you don't have to because everything takes place through the web browser.

The moment you hit the front page of iconsfind.com, you'll be greeted with a bunch of black and white icons, but don't be scared. At first we were surprised, but further inspection showed us that this website is also packed with colored icons, and they look fantastic.

Venture to the top of the website and there's an option to search for a particular icon. No advanced search here, but despite that, it still worked pretty well for us.

When it comes down to categories, there are 28 in all. Unfortunately, it is not possible to search within a category. In fact, they are not real categories, just specified keywords. Should you click on the Animal Icons category or search for Animal instead, both show the same results.

To download an icon from the websites, just click on it, then right-click and Save as.

As for the software itself, well, we tried to download it from the official website, but Avast viewed it as an infection and blocked it outright. With the official website out of the question, we chose to get the file from FreewareFiles.com instead.

We scanned the .ZIP file with our antivirus software and nothing came up to suggest this file is a threat. But some software may throw up a warning. Whatever the case might be, we wouldn't recommend downloading FreeIconFinder from the official website.

After we have installed the software from the ZIP file and launched it, we can say for sure that it brings nothing new to the table. The only upside to the FreeIconFinder software is the fact that it makes it easier to download icons. If you want to view the license and to know who the original author is, it takes you directly to the website.

There's no point in using this thing at all unless you're a person who just loves to download useless software.

Update: FreewareFiles no longer have this software for download. But who cares? The website is more than good enough. If you're still in need of a software, you can try this app from the Windows Store.
