It's practically confirmed there will be a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 release date this 2017 and it's just a matter of exactly when and what specifically are the things to expect. Thankfully, freshly leaked details and renders point to bits of information on rollout timing, specs, features and pricing to unpack with the supersized phablet.

According to Gizmo China, a leaked Xiaomi document gave light to the possible design language that will be in use for the Mi Mix 2. The same all-screen front panel will be in full display for the unboxing as the same report highlighted the obvious that the upcoming Xiaomi flagship will be nearly a replica of the Galaxy S8 but with a larger display, possibly to stretch up to 6.4-inch like the original.

However, while Xiaomi designers has opted to maintain the basic form factor of the 2016 version the Mi Mix 2 screen-to-body ratio will be increased from 91.3 percent to 93 percent. Likewise, it is believed that the handset's display aspect ratio will be similar to that of the GS8, indicating of a taller rendering for the 2017 upgrade.

As for the internals, there were no specifics mentioned in the report but the first Mi Mix was powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 821 processor with up to 6GB of RAM. For the refresh, it is expected that Qualcomm's 2017 flagship will be in use and that will be Snapdragon 835 that likely will be paired with 8GB of RAM.

And there has to be flagship standard features such as increased internal memory capacity, possibly in 128GB and 256GB configurations, and dual camera settings. The original Mi Mix debuted with the fingerprint sensor located on the rear panel so it should be the same for the 2017 bump.

It was Android Marshmallow that came with the Xiaomi Mi Mix last year and it's unlikely Android O will be initially on board for the Mi Mix 2. The best bet is Android Nougat coming right out of the box with the device.

As for the release date and pricing, Gizmo China said it certainly will be fourth quarter of 2017 as rollout time for the jumbo phone with the cash damage at around $600 to $700 if the original tag is to be the basis.
