The latest details for "Devil May Cry 5" will feature a possible appearance on September and film version of the game series teased.

Game director Hideaki Itsuno made an update for his new project, which gaming fans are suspecting to be "Devil May Cry 5" as he tweeted an apology to the gaming fans for not announcing anything at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo event last week.

However, Itsuno noted that the development of the new project is "progressing smoothly," which suggest that its debut will be coming sooner this year.

Many gaming fans were hoping for "Devil May Cry 5" to appear in E3 2017 after Sony America CEO Shawn Layden told TIME Capcom will make a comeback and even teased some major announcements that could be related to it.

Capcom during E3 2017 showcased several video game titles like "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" and "Monster Hunter World," but has not yet featured "Devil May Cry 5," although the series' protagonist Dante made it into the roster of "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" representing the Capcom characters.

Still, Capcom did promise to revive some of their old video game titles that have been dormant for several years ever since "Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite" debut.

The "Devil May Cry" game series fits the bill as a dormant IP since the latest game in the series are remastered versions of "DmC: Devil May Cry" and "Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition". The series has been considered “hard to continue” by many fans as the series creator, Hideki Kamiya, no longer works at Capcom.

But with Itsuno's update on the new project going well, it seems that "Devil May Cry 5" could happen and will be showcased this year. The possible appearance of the sequel could happen on September during the Tokyo Game Show 2017. The event is scheduled on Sep. 21-24 in Chiba, Japan.

In other news, "Resident Evil: Vendetta" producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi teased that he wants to make a film based on another Capcom video game.

When Kobayashi was asked if there were any plans to create films based on those specific Capcom franchises. He stated that he would like to make films based on "Devil May Cry," "Dino Crisis," or "Sengoku Basara."

Out of the three choices, the most likely game to have its own film could be "Devil May Cry" since it one of the more popular titles in Capcom next to "Street Fighter" and "Resident Evil."

Unfortunately, Kobayashi’s answer does not even give fans a hint as to whether or not a "Devil May Cry" CG film is actually in the works or not. If a "Devil May Cry" movie were to be made, one has to wonder whether it would follow the story of the original games, or if it would be set in the "DmC" reboot universe, Gamerant reported.

For now, gaming fans will just have to wait for further announcements regarding "Devil May Cry 5" and the possible "Devil May Cry" film soon.
