The new "God of War" trailer starts with Kratos and his son, Atreus travelling boat as they stop to an unknown location. Atreus ask his father if "he going to do it" as Kratos rises and throws his enchanted battle axe on something hoping to return to him. The scene shifts with Atreus asking Kratos if he is cursed and tells him that he knows the "truth", possibly hinting his father's status as a demigod and the son of Zeus.

Kratos and Atreus will encounter more mythical beast in the Norse mythology such as the Fenris wolf, frost giants and rock trolls as the new "God of War" sequel featured a glimpse of the "Father and Son" combat. Atreus can assist his father by firing specialized arrows and even stab enemies on the head, while Kratos chokes them. Kratos will also have a new weapon in the form of a shield and toss his axe as a projectile, Gamerant reported.

The new "God of War" trailer also revealed Kratos's unnamed wife and Atreus's mother, as she tells his husband the their child is not his "past," thus signifying Kratos's internal struggle to be a better father and mentor to Atreus. Kratos's wife also warns him of the Norse Gods, hinting one of them will show up in the sequel.

The trailer ends with Kratos and Atreus meeting the legendary World Serpent as the monster offers assistance to them. It also revealed that "God of War" will launch on 2018 for the PlayStation 4, IGN reported.

While an exact release date is unknown, it does confirmed that "God of War" will indeed launch next year.

Sony executive Jim Ryan stated in an interview that the new open-world and narrative focused story is the result of the company's global thinking.

Ryan added that "God of War" is a franchise that has historically acutely under-performed in Europe. Hack and slash games tend to not sell well, so the narrative this time around will make a big difference and he stated that European gamers love narrative games.

The new "God of War" sequel will launch on the early 2018 for the PlayStation 4.
