The new release date was slipped into the very end of the newest cinematic trailer for "Destiny 2," which Sony showed off here at its Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference. After the trailer, Bungie announced the PC release date of the sequel, Polygon reported.

The E3 trailer of "Destiny 2" highlights the sequel's main villain, Ghaul as his forces invaded the Tower, home of the Guardians and left them broken and defeated.

It was originally assumed that this new release date for "Destiny 2" was a PlayStation exclusive, part of Sony’s ongoing deal with Bungie and publisher Activision that’s lasted since the original game’s launch in September 2014.

As part of the deal, PS4 players will get access to exclusive strikes, weapons, and armor for up to one year after "Destiny 2’s" release. However, game director Luke Smith was quick to clarify the ordeal and tweeted that the release date is for both PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg added that PC version will not be ready to launch alongside the consoles as they are working hard with Bungie in optimizing the sequel for the PC platform.

Bungie also announced the schedules for the beta test which will last around two and a half days, from 1PM ET on July 21 to 12 AM on July 24 for the consoles, while the PC beta is slated on August. Players who pre order "Destiny 2" will have early access to the beta: 1PM ET on July 18 for PS4 pre-order owners, and the same time but a day later for Xbox One.

In other news, "Destiny 2" will have two multiplayer modes as Smith told Game Informer (via Gamerant) that the sequel will have Quickplay and Competitive play.

Two modes are featured in Competitive play; "Countdown" and an unnamed game mode. Countdown is a PvP mode, with attack-and-defend bomb planting style gameplay. The other game mode could possibly be the rumored "Trials of the Nine," although that could also be a special event just as "Trials of Osiris" is in the "Destiny" game.

For now, there is no mention of whether the competitive playlist would also be ranked, which is a popular fan request, especially for competitive players in the "Destiny" community. However, even if there is no ranking system, at least the bifurcation of PvP playlists will help players find the experience they are looking for in "Destiny 2."

"Destiny 2" is set to launch on Sept. 6 for the PS4 and Xbox One, while the PC version will be release on Oct. 24.
