After Dish Network's legal move against Kodi add-on ZemTV and TVAddons library, several other add-ons have decided to just throw in the towel including Phoenix, which offers access to a huge range of channels, broadcasts, movies, and TV shows.

"In light of current events we have decided to close down Phoenix," developer Cosmix wrote. "This is not something that was easy for us to do; we have all formed a bond that cannot be broken as a team and have a HUGE support base that we are thankful of."

The developer also personally thanked its wide user base for their support.

"I can speak for myself when I say thank you to everybody that has been involved in Phoenix and it will always be one of my fondest memories."

Aside from Phoenix, developer One242415, who known for his work on Navi-X, also took a similar path. The announcement was directly made from his add-on that is scheduled to close in a few days.

"I am removing my addon for good. It was a hell ride for me," he wrote. "First starting off with Navi-X, then with Mashup, then with Phoenix, and for two months with my own add-on."

Developer Echo Coder also made the same decision. He made the announcement on his Twitter account, saying "Thank you for the last year. My addons are now off-line. Its been emotional. Take care."

Although Echo Coder still did not give a specific reason for the move, he noted that the increasing popularity of third-party add-ons was not beneficial to the community.

 "The reality is we did say the growth of third party popularity would hinder us. Unfortunately, now it looks like an implosion," he wrote.

According to TorrentFreak, several other third-party projects and add-ons have closed their doors, announced a temporary hiatus, or implemented other changes.

The recent moves follow after satellite service provider Dish Network accused ZemTV of directly infringing several TV channels and TVAddons for distributing the questioned add-ons. The service in question allows users to watch Dish channels without permission.

Dish Network is demanding ZemTV to pay a hefty $150,000 per infringement in damages, while TVAddons also faces statutory damages for contributory and vicarious copyright infringement.
