"GTA 6" is highly anticipated as the next big game coming to the next gen platforms featuring possibly the massive setting of an entire US map. The latest update on the game's release date suggests a possible 2020 release.

The release date of "GTA 6" may still be far off but speculations on its alleged major features and other possibilities have continued to swirl online. That is amid the absence of any news from game developer Rockstar Games itself until now.

Release Date Rumors

For sometime, game analysts and seasoned fans of the franchise have been speculating based on educated guess that the sixth installment of the GTA series will arrive in 2018. However, because of some turn of events like the surprise delay of the sequel to another Rockstar hit series, "Red Dead Redemption 2", the release date of "GTA 6" could be pushed further to 2020.

While this sounds as an awful news to people who are impatiently wanting to get their hands on the next title, reports say that it could bring something good out of it. Rockstar Games has been known to be staunch in the development of its masterpiece such as "GTA 6".

Epic US Setting

The developer is expected to deliver a game that is better than the massively successful "GTA 5". One way to do it is to offer an epic setting, many times bigger than the map of the predecessor game.

Previous GTA titles were situated in a city and thereby, limiting the players to explore other places in the game. But the next title will reportedly see a massive US map as the next setting, with multiple in-game cities.

Next Gen Platforms

Since the entire US map is so big, latest reports have also supposed that the next game will be running on the latest technology available by the time of its release. So, it is speculated that it will not be made available on current gen consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Instead, "GTA 6" will be launched on the next gen platforms like the upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio, which is said to be available around the holiday season. On the other hand, there are already rumors of PlayStation 5 being in stages of development for a 2020 release.

It has been a long while that Rockstar Games stays mum about the highly speculated "GTA 6" and whether it is already in pre-production stages or not. At this point, the game developer has kept itself busy pouring more support for "GTA 5", with Gunrunning DLC arriving to the game this June.
