The refurbished Galaxy Note 7 may just prove a letdown as the latest rumor from South Korea indicated the resurrected 2016 phablet flagship will sell at around $620. The expensive price tag is a turn off as the Galaxy Note 8 when released later this 2017 is expected to retail at around $800.

According to SamMobile, a Korean online retailer has listed the refurbished Note 7 to sell for 699,600 won or roughly equivalent to $620. Though unconfirmed, the latest piece information debunked the earlier suggestion that Samsung will chop off the Note 7 original selling price by 50 percent, indicating the device will sell for no more than $500.

If true, then would-be buyers could be prompted to think hard as what they will get for such a relatively high price will soon be eclipsed by other handsets in terms of specifications. SamMobile said the reworked Galaxy Note 7 will largely mirror the specs seen with the original: a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display, Exynos 8890 chip with 4GB of RAM and a 12MP main shooter.

The Note 7 is also said packed with a 3200mAh battery that is downgraded a bit from the original, purportedly to ensure that the device battery will not overheat and explode like last year.

In comparison, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus boast of upgraded hardware specs and the stunning Infinity Display. Picking any of the two instead will likely only require additional spending of $300 at most, which likely many buyers would not mind at all.

Or they can go for the Galaxy Note 8 that Samsung has confirmed will hit the market in the second half of 2017. It has the same Infinity Display like the GS8 but with a larger screen than the Galaxy S8 Plus. And many key features that GS8 skipped the Note 8 will certainly unpack with like fingerprint sensor that is embedded with front glass display and a dual camera setting.

And the best part, the Galaxy Note 8 on release date will sell using the original sticker price of the Note 7. Even is Samsung will implement a slight price, it is expected that the device will cost buyers between $800 and $900. Rollout time is as early as August 2017.
