The latest details for "Destiny 2" will feature side missions, dungeons and new sword weapons in the sequel.

It seems that new features are added in "Destiny 2" as Bungie World Director Steve Cotton talked about what would be changing in the open world sections of the sequel, which gaming fans know as "Patrols."

Cotton mentioned "Adventures" and "Lost Sectors" being new activities in "Destiny 2's" free-roaming mode, but besides a short description there was not much more revealed. However, he told Glixel (via Gamerant) that adventures in the game will give out side missions NPC's to the players.

Adventures will take 10 to15-minute on the missions with narrative and dialogue that takes players to new places and they do new mechanics. With the recent revelation that Grimoire cards would no longer be available outside of "Destiny 2," Adventures look to not only be an activity for players to do, but also an avenue to deliver story. Cotton described an Adventure side mission as something akin to playing one encounter from the Vault of Glass.

For the Lost Sectors, Cotton described them as dungeon like game modes and are symbols hidden in the open world that need to be activated, which then open one of them into the game. Players will have to explore the Lost Sector, which will end in a boss, and once felled will award loot.

Cotton added that these are not long activities like raids, but are meant to be completed “pretty quickly” while exploring. However, like a raid, it sounds like opening a door to a Lost Sector can be tricky, needing the players to fulfill certain requirements. Although, he did say that patient players could wait for other players to open the door and sneak in with them.

In other news, new swords are added to "Destiny 2's" weapons option as they were first introduced in the first game's expansion "The Taken King."

Bungie revealed tons of new details for "Destiny 2" last week and having swords is one them. Previously nestled in the heavy slot, swords will now reside in the power category, and it looks like the three classes may wield them differently in "Destiny 2"

Whether the stance is weapon specific or dependent on the character class is still uncertain, however, weapons like Katanas and Broadswords are available in the sequel, VG 24/7 reported.

"Destiny 2" is set to launch on Sept. 8, 2017 for the PS4 and Xbox One, while the PC version will be release in a later date.
