AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper specs, price and release date is somehow intended to counter the rumored Intel Core i9 processors. The workstation-class CPU is aimed for high-end desktop users and enthusiasts.

The bigger the better seemed to be the new implicit motto of AMD as they would offer to consumers a 16-core Ryzen CPU, dubbed as the Threadripper. This latest marketing move of the company comes after the successful launching and warm respond of consumer with their recently introduce Ryzen CPU line-ups.

With the somehow tested and proven capabilities of the Ryzen processors, the AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper specs and price is something to look forward to for most enthusiasts. As of the current writing, the company revealed that its upcoming CPU will up to "up to 16 cores and 32 threads".

The specifics concerning how these cores will run remained undisclosed up to now. However, seeing how Ryzen 7 performs, having base clock of 3.7GHz that turbos up to 4.0GHz, it would likely be that the AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper will be within such category.

In reference to a previous leak, the Ryzen 9 1998X (16-core) is believed to run a base clock speed of 3.5GHz and a boost speed of 3.9GHz, and a total draw power (TDP) of 155W, according to Tech Radar. On the other hand the Ryzen 9 that is assumed to be a 14-core (28-thread) CPU will be running at and base and boost speeds of 3.5GHz/4.1GHz.

Since AMD plans to rival Intel's  upcoming Core i9 CPU lineup, it is expected that its performance will be in par with that of Intel. The point of deviation will not simply be performance, for knowing AMD, the price of their upcoming CPU will surely be cheaper than that of the Intel CPU counterpart.

As an estimate, AMD's current top-of-the line Ryzen 7 1800X is almost $400, which somehow suggest that the AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper would be twice as that of the Ryzen 7, possibly starting at around $800. However, it would still be cheaper compared to that of the upcoming Core i9 from Intel.

As for its release date, it has been reported that the said device will arrive this summer. And with Computex event fast approaching, further details are to be expected concerning the AMD Ryzen 9 Threadripper specs, price and release date.
