The possibility of "Half-Life 3" to see the light of day in the near future gets bleak as key writers leave game developer Valve. The latest to quit the company is game writer Chet Faliszek.

Valve Corporation is a software company that has become famous for the hugely popular video games, "Team 2", "Portal" and "Half-Life". For many years, fans have been clamoring for "Half-Life 3" and still hoping Valve will bring the good news sooner or later.

But the recent departure of Faliszek could mean that the third entry to the series will not happen or of it will, it will be at some distant future. Faliszek has confirmed his exit from Valve after working for the company for 12 years. Apparently, the reason of his exit was not divulged but Game Industry noted that both parties mutually agreed with the split. 

The game writer first worked for Valve on "Half-Life 2: Episode 1". He is also behind other popular and acclaimed franchise games,  including "DOTA 2", the two "Portal" games, both the "Left for Dead" titles as well as "Counter Strike: Global Offensive".

Moreover, he did not make mention about what comes next for him. But being a bright mind and talentend, many of the big game studios would bid to have him on board.

"Nothing exciting or drama filled. I worked there 12 years, shipped a bunch of great games and some amazing hardware and wanted to change things up. There's no news on what's next etc, I will let you know when that happens," Faliszek stated.

As for Valve, it also lost "Half-Life" writer Marc Laidlaw in 2016 due to age and his desire to create his own projects. Then in February, Erik Wolpaw also departed from Valve.

Wolpaw worked on "Portal 1" and "Portal 2", "Left for Dead" and the two "Half-Life" games. At present, he is the co-writer of "Psychonauts 2" and working with Tim Schafer at Double Fine.

So far, Valve Corporation has not confirmed that it is picking up its "Half-Life" franchise and has plans to develop the highly requested "Half-Life 3". The previous game was released back in 2004.
