Samsung just confirmed that a second Android flagship phone will be released in the second half of 2017 and it likely will be the phablet Galaxy Note 8. The rollout is expected to replicate the success that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus now reap.

In a press statement that announced the South Korean tech giant's Q1 2017 financial results, Samsung revealed its plan launch "a new flagship smartphone in the second half," of the year. Speculations are rife the device will be the Galaxy Note 8 or the replacement for the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. However, Samsung is yet to confirm the official name for the Note 7 sequel.

The company, per BGR, also stopped short of providing the specs and other details for the next-generation Galaxy Note phablet.

But it's a good thing rumors are rampant on what the Note 8 would be when unboxed. According to WCCFTech, the device will be the biggest flagship phone that Samsung will ever release, boasting of 6.4-inch display with QHD+ screen resolution. And like in previous iterations, the display technology is Super AMOLED.

From the GS8, it is expected that Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip will make its way to the Note 8 but WCCFTech is convinced Samsung will also make use of the 10-nanometer Exynos 8895 processor, possibly in select markets. The same approach was employed with the Galaxy S8 thrust.

Any of the SD 835 and Exynos 8895 will likely get a higher RAM provision already seen with the GS8. As the latest Samsung flagship unpacked with 4GB of RAM support the Note 8 will likely hit the market with 6GB RAM. The same report said there will be a 256GB Note 8 Edition but it's unclear if that will be the basic model or just the highest memory configuration for the device. Memory expansion is said to be part of the deal.

Rumors indicate the Galaxy Note 8 will be the doppelganger for the supersized Galaxy S8 Plus, but will be more stunning with the Infinity Display further stretched and with the signature S Pen stylus.

And the Galaxy Note 8 will certainly not come cheap, likely exceeding the starting price of $720 for the Galaxy S8 on release date, which BGR said will happen between August and September release date.
