Microsoft has announced that "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition" would be made available on Steam this week. This means that the game would be made available for purchase as a standalone download, and players will no longer need to have "Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition" to enjoy the game.

According to Xbox Achievements, the "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition" is an improved version of the former Halo RTS, which was made available for Xbox One and Windows 10. It comes with outstanding visuals, additional features, increased achievements, and an all-new DLC which was made specifically for the game on Xbox 360.

The game is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. This means that once it is purchased digitally, users are entitled to play it on both Xbox One and Windows 10 - with no additional or hidden cost. Also, Steam would support achievements and server browser to enable users to make and host matches for other players to join.

Despite the features that the Steam could offer in the game, Euro Gamer revealed that the Steam version of "Halo Wars: Definitive Edition" would not allow players to play with others who are using the Windows Store version of the game.

"Halo Wars: Definitive Edition" would be made available on April 20, 2017.
