Thurrott has released some new information about the upcoming hybrid device on Twitter. He stated that specs-wise, the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will use a 7th-generation Kaby Lake processor. Thurrott likened the upcoming convertible tablet to a "Surface Pro 4.5" of sorts. He further claims that the Surface Pro 5 may not use USB-C for charging as most 2-in-1 nowadays.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with a 12.3-inch screen, 4K UltraHD display, 512GB of storage, 16GB of RAM, and a revamped Surface Pen stylus with new wireless charging feature. The Surface Pro 5 said powered by AMD's new Ryzen family of processors, in addition to Intel's Kaby Lake chips. There are speculations that Microsoft might release an AMD-based variant. There are also rumors that the Surface Pro 5 might support Microsoft's Windows 10 Creator's Update and that includes the Hololens and the Surface Dial.

Microsoft is likely to reveal the Surface Pro 5 alongside other Surface-branded lineups at Microsoft's Build developer conference between May 10 and 12. Lastly, Microsoft Surface pricing is expected to start around $899. A faster processor with bigger hard drive could push the price above $2,000.
