New updates for "Final Fantasy 7" remake will feature an E3 2017 appearance and Square Enix testing the Nintendo Switch for the game.

Several rumors are making rounds regarding "Final Fantasy 7" remake on the Nintendo Switch console as Square Enix announced exciting things about the console.

Square Enix announced that beyond the PlayStation 4, they are focusing their development efforts on the Nintendo Switch rather than the Xbox Scorpio. Square Enix is actively looking at new ports and other games to bring to the system, which is selling very well so far, especially in Japan. They also teased other new projects in development for the system.

The Japanese developer is launching five games for the Nintendo Switch, but "Final Fantasy 7" remake was not included yet due to the game being relatively new and in developement, but it does not mean it could not be added to the console. Square Enix is very clearly testing the waters here with the Nintendo Switch. The company wants the platform to succeed and it wants its games to succeed on it.

Historically, even for very successful Nintendo consoles like the Wii, third-party games have tended to underperform expectations, often because they came years late, or lowered down from ist original. That is why Square Enix needs to give things a try more carefully first, with small but new and exciting ports, IDigital Times reported.

Meanwhile, another rumored detail for "Final Fantasy 7" remake will likely have an appearance at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Game director Tetsuya Nomura stated during the MAGIC 2017 event that he wanted to show a new video for "Final Fantasy 7" remake, but the Square Enix refused to do so, as they felt the game is not polished yet.

Certainly Square Enix wanted to save something special for "Final Fantasy 7" remake for big gaming events like E3 2017, Gematsu reported.

While it is unknown yet what kind of content will Square Enix showcased in "Final Fantasy 7" remake during E3 2017, whether it be a new trailer or release date, gaming fans are looking forward to it soon.

Nomura also stated that that making a compilation for the "Final Fantasy VII" spin-offs will be a difficult task considering that there might not be any continuity between them and "Final Fantasy 7" remake at the moment.

The game director wanted "Final Fantasy 7" remake to be different from the original game, but at the same time will not make any sudden big changes in order to retain the feeling of nostalgia to older gaming fans.

"Final Fantasy 7" remake is speculated to launch sometime within 2017 for the PS4.
