Cyber warfare is undeniably inescapable with the current generation's internet of things. North Korea itself became a victim of such act after their latest nuclear test missile failed.

Based on reports, the missile testing made by the rogue state exploded five seconds after it was launched. The cause of the said failure was attributed to an American cyber attack, according to The Sun.

US agents may have successfully infected the hi-tech devices associated with Nuclear testing, leading to a massive malfunction. Although it remained unconfirmed, US agents are said to have infiltrated the supply chain for NorKor's sources of hi-tech devices being used in their latest project.

The fear of retaliation from the rogue state may be possible, especially that it was humiliated in the eyes of the global community. However, the possibility of a payback may not be within a nuclear level.

Although the Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly recognized North Korea as a threat, such recognition remained with a cyber-threat level. The US Homeland Security do not recognize NorKor within a kinetic level capable of missile attack, according to NBC News.

The lethality of a cyber warfare has been tested and proven in the past years. It can be remembered that in 2007 a well-coordinated cyber attack disabled the government-related web-services of Estonia. Moreover, in 2010 Russia was implicated with a malware attack codenamed "Stuxnet," which have affected the Iranian nuclear centrifuges.

With the outlined effects and unique nature of the attacks, cyber warfare remains to be one of the most popular instrument of choice for both state and non-state players and even some individuals. Seeing that, cyber warfare has been projected as a potential starting point or platform for another World War.

If not properly anticipated and monitored, the threat of this form of warfare will continue. Therefore suggesting a great havoc and chaos both at domestic and international level.
