Microsoft has confirmed that it will be holding an event on May and the occasion could be used to unpack fresh mobile devices that will showcase the news features of Windows 10 Creators Update. The revelation could possibly involve the Surface Phone but more likely the Surface Pro 5.

Following the April 11 deployment of the latest Windows 10 upgrade, the tech giant issued advisory on the May 2 event in New York dubbed as #MicrosoftEDU. In the past years, Microsoft timed new Surface revelations with the same event so speculations are rife that any of the Surface Phone or Surface Pro 5 might just make an appearance.

Or as suggested by WCCFTech, if the two devices will skip the event at least the Surface Book 2 will take center stage as recent rumors indicated that the re-engineered Microsoft notebook will come out soon but no longer with hybrid design of the original version.

However, Business Insider said that any of the three devices are unlikely to be previewed by Microsoft anytime soon, certainly not with the upcoming event. As the #MicrosoftEDU label has hinted, the May 2 event is supposedly planned to highlight in Microsoft's fresh thrust on education and creativity.

No doubt, the gathering will center on the new things packed with the now rolling Creators Update.

But in discussing the new marvel that the bumped up Windows 10 is, its maker will surely tie the new OS capabilities with new hardware. "Our sources say that there will be news on both the Windows software and hardware fronts, it's unclear what, exactly, this will entail," Business Insider reported.

One good guess for the new hardware that will serve as the showcase device for Windows 10 Creators Update is the Surface Book 2 or a version of it that is said to be Microsoft's direct answer to Google's Chromebook. The device is likely to be called Surface Cloud, as suggested by known Microsoft insider Mary Jo Foley.

And if indeed the Surface Pro 5 will miss the #MicrosoftEDU event, the earliest that the device could be unboxed is before the end of 2017 or after the release of Windows 10 Redstone 3 Update in October or November.

As for the Surface Phone release date, recent reports claimed Microsoft's ultimate mobile device will not be ready until late 2018 or 2019.
