Honda's Clarity Will Come In Hybrid And Electric Models

Honda already unveiled its Clarity Fuel Cell model. Now, it adds the Clarity Plug-In Hybrid and Clarity Electric to the family, which will be a key component of a US electrified vehicle sales push. Taking a chapter out of the Hyundai IONIQ playbook, Honda decided to broaden the appeal of its Clarity sedan series by offering it in three different eco-friendly flavors.

According to New Atlas, Honda hopes that the new three-in-one strategy over the Clarity series will help drive a fivefold sales increase of US electrified vehicle for the next four years. As part of a more comprehensive and greater plan, the automaker is also planning to convert two-thirds of its global sales to the electrified models by the year 2020. Specifically, Honda sales target a US sales goal of 75,000 Clarity models in all over the first four model years.

Jeff Conrad, the senior vice president of American Honda Motor Corporation said that the Honda Clarity is aimed at accelerating the distribution of advanced electrified powertrain technology. He also said that "bringing electrified vehicles further into the mainstream" is what Honda wants to produce as they release the Clarity models. The series also advertises the advancement of Honda's very own Electrification Initiative, "representing our investment in the full spectrum of electric-vehicle technologies."

Honda Clarity, the firm's new plug-in hybrid car series will go an estimated 42 miles on electric power, which give it the second-best range of any plug-in car behind only the Chevy Volt. Each of the three five-seater Honda Clarity models will get its own distinctive design treatment. This approach includes a hero color, differentiated lighting as well as front styling, and individual 18-in wheel designs. All the available features of each vehicle include Display Audio with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and the full suite of Honda Sensing safety. It will also have the driver-assistance technologies that cannot be seen on other Honda products.
