AMD's high-performance Ryzen 7 desktop chips were released earlier this year. The company's mid-range Ryzen 5 chips are set to hit the market next week. Following the official launch of AMD's Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 lineup of processors, it's time look at the next CPU, Ryzen 3. Folks at ASRock have revealed some key details regarding one of the processors. The Ryzen 3 1200 could reportedly come with a base clock of 3.1GHz.

AMD's Ryzen CPU lineup, which includes 3 eight-core processors, is led by the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, followed by the Ryzen 7 1700X and the Ryzen 7 1700. The base clock frequency ranges from 3.0 GHz to 3.6 GHz and all CPUs feature SMT, which enables 16 logical CPUs.

Moreover, AMD might upgrade the Ryzen 5 CPU series with four new models based on six-core and quad-core designs. The Ryzen 3 processor in question bears the model name "YD1200BBM4KAE" which strongly suggest that it's the Ryzen 3 1200 CPU. Based on ASRock's CPU support list for the Ryzen 3 1200, the CPU is said to boast of a base frequency speed of 3.1GHz along with a cache size of 2MB. Additionally, ASRock stated that the processor would have a TDP rating of 65W.

We will probably have to wait a few months to get official details about the price and availability of the Ryzen 3 1200 and Ryzen 3-series chips. However, given that the Ryzen 5 line has a starting price of $169, the new Ryzen 3 chips will likely be cheaper. All of the Ryzen chips announced to date are designed for desktop computers, but AMD does plan to launch lower-power models for notebooks in the second half of this year.
