Data gathered in 2016 shows that only 60 percent of the patients infected with the virus are in active treatment, despite the updates in the medical field. The United Nation is, therefore, calling for a global effort to attain a 90-90-90 output concerning the epidemic, according to Specialty Pharmacy Times.

The goal is to ensure that 90 percent of HIV-positive patients are receiving treatment, 90 percent are virally suppressed, and 90 percent of adherence at all times to the sequence of treatment and supression.

The UNAIDS' battle against HIV/AIDS is considered as ambitious one. Although it may sound impossible, the group aims to lower the impact of the virus by the year 2020.

As of the current writing, various world organization and medical institution are pouring their efforts and finances to develop a definitive HIV cure. Apart from seeking a definitive treatment, HIV/AIDS prevention is also the target of various health agencies.

There have been efforts to educate people about the danger of AIDS, while others have channeled their resources into creating medications and apparatus that would cease the spread of the virus.
