NASA is preparing to receive a space capsule from SpaceX Dragon that contains dead bodies as the byproduct of the experiments conducted in the outer space.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is also involved in experiments that concern medical science.

In the most recent experiment, NASA has ordered astronauts to kill 40 mice, according to The Register. The mice were killed after being subjected to experiments to determine how the healing process interacts with the space environment.

The legs of the mice were first broken. Three different treatment methods were then applied before they were sent to the International Space Station (ISS). Once there, the healing process of the mice was monitored for three weeks, with the aim of understanding how space affect the healing process.

Euthanising the mice was necessary to stop the mice from healing on the return trip. The mercy killing likewise helped to relieve the mice from stress during re-entry.

Aside from the "Tissue Regeneration-Bone Defect (Rodent Research-4)," the space agency also conducted an experiment on stems cells known as Microgravity Expanded Stem Cells. The microgravity environment in space helps in accelerating the expansion of stem cells, according to NASA.

The safe return of the SpaceX Dragon capsule to Earth's surface somehow merits a celebration. The treasure of knowledge and test results it contains will highly revolutionize the health care sciences and other related medical branches.
