Are you addicted to chocolates? Do you know that you have the power to fight these cravings? Researchers from Flinders University School of Psychology in Australia have found two mindfulness techniques that are effective against chocolate addiction.

These techniques are guided imagery and cognitive defusion that can cure chocolate addiction. The lead author of the study Sophie Schumacher suggests that it is easier to tackle the issue from the moment it pops your mind, most especially if you are not hungry, than to wait until those cravings have gathered force.

Previous researchers showed that chocolate addiction has the same effect as drugs users who depend on the substance. It was also found that there are psychological reactions when people are eating chocolate including intense pleasure. These same results are induced by some drugs, according to Independent.

Researchers from Drexel University believe that this may be due to the multiple characteristics of chocolate including cocoa and sugar. They observed drug-like effects which are responsible for increasing the cravings for chocolate.

Schumacher and her colleagues published their latest study in the journal Appetite stating that they found a way on how to limit the consumption and addiction of chocolate. Your craving thoughts should first be targeted before they become intense. On the other hand, when you start thinking about chocolates, you can quell that thought by imagining yourself on a beach or in a forest, according to Medical Daily.
