It's time for you stock some vitamin B if you are worried about air pollution. A new study found out that nutrients found in vitamin B can mitigate the negative effects of pollutants such as PM2.5 which has been known to cause health problems if inhaled.

The most dangerous pollutant, which is the PM2.5, can be found mostly in wood burning stoves and diesel cars. These complex particulates can even lodge in our lungs which can result to lung and even heart health issues.

The participants belong to ages between 18 and 60 who are healthy, non-smokers. First, they were exposed to clean air and they were given a placebo. Afterwards, they were exposed to polluted air. But beforehand, they were able to take vitamin B supplement consisting of 1 mg of vitamin B12, 2.5 mg of folic acid, and 50 mg of vitamin B6.

Participants were taken measurements before and after the air exposure. It was revealed that the damage caused by PM2.5 is reduced. However, researchers examined only 10 people and there are still no verifications whether vitamin B can really get rid of the harmful effects of air pollution.

However, according to News Medical, vitamin B12 helps to produce red blood cells that allow oxygen to be delivered to the cells and tissues of the body. It is also proven to reduce fatigue and tiredness, as well as to aid in boosting memory and concentration.

Meanwhile, BBC News stressed the effects of air pollution in our health, but until now, it was not clearly understood how dirty air is which makes people become sick. In fact, over 90 percent of the global population is living in places where air pollution is exceeding on its safety guidelines according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
