AMD has confirmed that the mid-range Ryzen 5 CPUs will have its global debut on April 11 and starting price is set at $169. The Intel chip rival will hit the market in 4-core/8-thread and 6-core/12-thread models, all in unlocked for overclocking out of the box, with the most premium ready to take home for only $249.

That price tag will be for the Ryzen 5 1600X, which WCCFTech said is the most premium in the line in 6-core/12-thread configuration. The chip will spin with base clock of 3.6GHz and can be boosted up to 4.0GHz on all cores with TDP rating of 95W. AMD is touting the 1600X as its direct answer to Intel's Core i5-7600K.

According to the same report, while the quad-core i5-7600K is cheaper by up to $10 than the Ryzen 5 1600X the latter has been benchmarked and returned multi-thread performance test that is 69 percent better. That means the 1600X chip offers more value even at a slightly higher price.

The Ryzen 5 will come in five CPU models that will boast of base clocks starting at 3.2GHz with the boost speed running up to 4.0GHz. The cheapest of the line is the Ryzen 5 1300 that will retail for only $149 - the chip falls under the 4-core/8-thread configuration that is headlined by the Ryzen 5 1500X.

The 1500X will serve as the sweet-spot offering of the Ryzen 5, having a base clock of 3.5GHz that can be overclocked to 3.7GHz with an asking price of only $189.

Completing the Ryzen 5 mainstream CPU bets are the 1400X and the 1500 that will retail for $169 and $219, respectively. As mentioned, AMD Ryzen 5 chips will debut worldwide, meaning the availability will be happen as scheduled in most markets on April.

The Ryzen 5 coming out next month will happen following the Ryzen 7 CPU debut this March. To complete the AMD's rising challenge to Intel's i7/i5/i3 chips is the Ryzen 3, which its maker said will be pushed out in the second half of 2017.

The Ryzen 3 will be AMD's most affordable Summit Ridge chips with the price likely to range between $100 and $130 but with the same overclocking feature that is the signature of the CPU family.
