Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Release Date to Take a Backseat to Make Way for a new Device

After the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung fans are now looking forward to how the Note 8 will uplift the phablet brand. Reports say that it will arrive this year, but it may be taking a backseat as the Korean company may be focusing on a different device that would revolutionize the mobile industry.

According to xdadevelopers, Samsung is going to release some sort of a tablet-smartphone hybrid sometime in the third quarter of the year. The device will be foldable, so it will be able to transform into a tablet or smartphone just by holding. Is this the end for the Note 8 phablet - a combination of a phone and tablet?

Just how it would work is unknown for now. Per PC Advisor, a foldable device will be achieved by using a bendable screen. Samsung is also currently working on fold-out phones, which will be more convenient than fold-in, so there is a high chance that it will be the one released this year.

Dubbed the Galaxy X, it is supposedly a 5-inch smartphone when folded that turns into a 7-inch tablet when unfolded. If it will be released this year, it might feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 under the hood and 4K resolution display.

It is worth noting that Samsung might scrap this project altogether or delay its release date due to technical hurdles. Nevertheless, if the tech giant is really working hard to launch a prototype this year, the Galaxy Note 8 might be overshadowed by this new tech.

As for the phablet, the world is still in the dark as to when the company is planning to release the Note 7 successor. Some reports say that it will be released earlier to make up for the loss of the Note 7 while other believe that it will arrive much later than usual.
