Gulfstream Aerospace signed a deal on Monday with China to supply one of its G550 planes as the country launches state-of-the-art medevac services in Beijing.

"China is a very important market for us. The medevac configuration of our G550 is something we are very proud of. It is technically advanced," Gulfstream President Mark Burns said, adding that the G550 will satisfactorily serve the medevac's mission and will work with Beijing 999.

The aircraft will be equipped with all cutting-edge medevac equipment and will enter the service of the Beijing Red Cross Emergency Medical Center. The G550 Medevac will be used to provide disaster relief and air rescue services. It will join the Beijing Red Cross' fleet of two emergency medical services helicopters, a fixed-wing medevac aircraft, and 300 ambulances.

The Gulfstream G550 aircraft boasts of its in-flight emergency resuscitation capability enabled by hospital beds with inboard tracking capabilities for better patient-doctor access. It also allows medical providers to walk fully around the plane and attend to patient. It also has a gurney loading system, refrigerated medical storage cabinets, a medical bay, and an X-ray viewing machine.

Although this is not the first time the model has been selected for medical purposes, the Gulfstream G550 for Beijing will be the highly advanced, introducing a whole new level of medevac aircraft to the sky.

"It's a highly capable [plane] and one that is a first of its kind and one that will probably be the standard for medevac planes going forward," Burns noted.

Through the Gulfstream G550 Medevac, Burns is confident that the aircraft could offer unmatched reliability and aid in the continued success of the Beijing Red Cross.

Meanwhile, Li Libing, director of the Beijing Organization (also called the Beijing 999), said that the deal marked another milestone in China's emergency medical industry.
