AMD Ryzen processors are pitted against Intel core i variants.

Is AMD Ryzen worth it or not? Such question evokes more than a simple yes or a no from a professional. There are some factors to be considered, such as specs, price and personal preference in deciding whether to dump Intel CPU in favor of Ryzen processors this 2017.

Over the past years, Intel has undoubtedly dominated the CPU scene. However, such dominance is being challenged by AMD with their Ryzen variants to the point that Intel has trimmed down the prices of their processors. Thus, giving consumers more viable options to choose from.

In choosing between Intel and AMD processors, speed is one of the factors to be considered. Intel's 7th Generation Kaby Lake are faster than AMD's latest Zen based architecture, according to PC World.

However, there are some exceptions to such judgment. In general usage, Intel is likely ahead in terms of processing speed, but if you will be performing activities that will take full advantage of all the available cores, then AMD Ryzen will be faster than Intel.

As of the current standing, Intel is still being favored by most consumers in terms of general performance. However, if you will be doing a heavy task, 3D rendering, and video encoding, then Ryzen will fit your need.  Moreover, in the price aspect, Ryzen CPU costs less than half as much as Intel's counterpart.

The latest Ryzen processor is worth it if you are a content creator, budget conscious streamer, or workstation user looking to cut the expenses but not the speed. However, the negative aspect of the deal according to Ars Technica, the gaming performance of Ryzen is weak compared to that of Intel.

The test done suggested that specialized AVX applications will perform better under Intel processor. Hence, making Intel i7-7700K or 7600K, a higher higher-clocked quad-core chip, still best for no-compromise gamers.

Finally, on the question of whether AMD Ryzen is worth it or not, the answer will likely depend on your need and budget. If you are more into general applications, then Intel would be good. On the other hand, if you would need more cores in performing a task, then Ryzen processor is a better choice.
