Science-Backed Ways to Relieve Stress Right Now!

We may commonly feel stress, perhaps anxiety, but it should not be taken for granted. In fact, there are numbers of popular google searches related to anxiety and stress such as "Is stress...?"

It is worth noting that stress and anxiety are two different things. According to MedLinePlus, stress is caused by a stressor while anxiety is the stress suffered after the stressor is already inexistent.

Anxiety is a disorder that is considered as a mental illness as written in Medical Daily. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, there are 40 million adults in the United States who are suffering from the most common type of mental illness.

Anxiety disorders include a various conditions like generalized social anxiety, anxiety disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Meanwhile psychiatrist Una McCann believed that anxiety disorders and heart disease can be linked together although their association is still being studied. He believes that anxiety can greatly affect heart diseases not just as a contributing factor, but also as an obstacle for cure.

On the other hand, a statement from the Anxiety and Depression Association of America tells that genetics can be a risk factor for anxiety disorders including personality, brain chemistry, and life events. Fortunately, the NIMH said that anxiety disorders can be treated. However, only one third of those are given a treatment, including medication and psychotherapy.

Stress can affect everyone. It may come from school, work, traumatic events, and major life changes. It is generally bad for the health, but not all stress is bad.
