Netflix Hack Day event introduced the 'Mindflix' headband that allows viewers to browse through the app by merely using the mind.

Netflix could soon take its lazy binge watching to the next level after four engineers created a prototype that allows viewers to browse through the company's TV app without lifting a finger.

Dubbed as the 'MindFlix' band, it is a modified headband that was originally designed by Muse to train the brain for meditation and mindfulness.

The modified brain-reading headband could detect electroencephalography waves to read electrical brain activity from the person wearing and utilize the feedback to control predetermined functions. This means, the wearer could not only move their head to navigate through the menus but also a simple thought like "Play" could already start a show.

The idea was one of the few projects included in Netflix's Hack Day event last week. During that time, employees are given 24 hours to come up with a unique ideas and experiments that could bring new fresh experience to Netflix's viewers.

Other projects that stole the spotlight during the event included a Christmas sweater that could spell out messages; a donation splash page after watching Netflix documentaries; a "Stranger Things" video game; to name a few, according to the company's official blog post.

Netflix's Hack Day has been running for a couple of years now. It tends to highlight bizarre ideas that are less likely to hit Netflix's market anytime soon.

"Hack Day is a way for our product development team to take a break from everyday work, have fun, experiment with new technologies, and collaborate with new people," the company said on its press release.

"Each Hack Day, we see a wide range of ideas on how to improve the product and internal tools as well as some that are just meant to be fun," it added.

As for the Mindflix technology, it is not clear if it is just for show or it will soon be released for public use.
