Despite Guillermo Del Toro's knack for storytelling, he would not be part of Death Stranding's creative team.

They say iron sharpens iron, in this case, Del Toro's creative mind should benefit game director Hideo Kojima's ideas. Unfortunately, that would not be the case for the upcoming Death Stranding game since Del Toro is content with being the game's "cheerleader."

The Pacific Rim writer opened up about his role in the upcoming game during an interview with IGN.

Believing in Hideo Kojima's vision

The man responsible for blockbusters such as Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy admitted that this game is entirely Hideo Kojima's. "I'm just a puppet in his hands," Del Toro stated.

While he is not involved in the development of the game, the established director still fully supports the project. "I think it's gonna be a fantastic game, 100%," Del Toro said.

The 52-year-old worked with Hideo Kojima on Silent Hills. While that project did not work out well for them, it is safe to say that Del Toro still believes in Kojima's artistic vision.

Actor Mads Mikkelsen is confused but impressed

Del Toro is not the only person who believes in Kojima's extravagant vision. Actor Mads Mikkelsen also believes in Kojima's creativity stating that he is a "very brilliant man."

While Mikkelsen has complimented Kojima's intricate ideas, he admitted that he still does not quite understand it. The Hannibal actor said that, while Death Stranding is impressive, it is also confusing, VG247 reported.

The 51-year-old actor said that he only understood "some" of what he has been told about his role in the game. Based on the game's cinematic trailer, Mikkelsen's character appears to be the main antagonist.

Death Stranding is set to be released on PS4 as well as the PC platform.
