Elon Musk has taken to Twitter to announce that he is boring a tunnel system that would let him avoid traffic. While many people think that the visionary founder of Tesla and SpaceX is joking, Musk has already named his soon-to-be venture "The Boring Company."

The news came after an exasperated Musk posted on Twitter that traffic is driving him nuts, and thus he is going to build a machine that will bore him tunnels so that he can dash about whichever city he is in, Tech Times reported.

"Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging...," tweeted Elon Musk on December 17, 2016.

The post has been followed by a change in Musk's bio which now states that "Tesla, SpaceX, Tunnels (yes, tunnels) & OpenAI" are the things that occupy his time.

On the same day, Musk again revealed on Twitter that he is going to go into digging tunnels, reinforcing the earlier tweet. "I am actually going to do this" and "Boring, it's what we do," Musk tweeted.

Tunneling might be helpful for Musk to complement his Hyperloop venture.

Possible Challenges

An underground road system would be complicated and unprecedented because it could require new regulatory policy or a special grant to secure the rights of underground land. Property law in the United States is partly founded on the maxim that "whoever owns the soil, holds title all the way up to the heavens and down to the depths of hell."
