The AMD New Horizon event on Dec. 13 would see the company introduce its latest Zen products in the hopes that it can compete against Intel. The public may get the chance to see the first AM4 motherboards during the event. There is not much news about the motherboards although there are rumors that Zen will launch it in the first quarter of 2017.

A recent WCCFTECH report said it is possible that AMD will announce the high-end AM4X370 motherboards for Zen at the event because a couple of motherboard makers will showcase their Zen boards which are based on the AM4 socket and X370 chipset. If this is true, it would be the first time the public will see an AM4 motherboard in action. The price would also be announced, and the company may clarify whether the release date is in early 2017 or not.

Those who want to take advantage of the DDR4 RAM would have to build a system with an Intel chip inside as only these motherboards support DDR4. However, that could change with Zen on the horizon. The new AM4 motherboards will support PCI-E Gen 3, DDR4, SATA Express, NVMe and USB 3.1 Gen 2.

Those who are into overclocking their RAM and CPU would be pleased to know that AM4 boards could support these features too. Zen aims to introduce a new era of 4K gaming on the PC with affordable GPUs. Project Scorpio could have a Vega version inside as Microsoft has chosen to release the new console by the holiday season in 2017.
